Kirby and the Forgotten Land + The Astral World: Kirby's appetite lands on Switch2!

by Simon LaroccaJuly 8, 2025

Se amate i characters so cute and with such a tender look that you’d want to squeeze them in an endless hug, if you adore platformers with colors so vivid that even Cristiano Malgioglio couldn’t match them, then Kirby’s grand return is exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + The Astral World will fill (especially) the hybrid screen of the Big N’s new entertainment machine with shades of pink, and more precisely it will be released on August 28, 2025, three years after the original game was published for the first version of the console.
Ritroviamo Kirby, the friendly pink creature born in 1992 and originating from Dream Land, his homeland and also the main setting of his first adventure, titled Kirby’s Dreamland, which has over time become a true cult classic for GameBoy players.
A follow-up the next year was that Kirby’s Adventure which the writer of these words loves viscerally, companion to unforgettable afternoons. Having shared the NES and many of its games with my father, the memory I have of those years, and those games, is like a bittersweet caress, as intense as… the hunger of our chubby protagonist, capable of swallowing his enemies and acquiring their abilities in the service of good, for the salvation of his friends and the worlds in danger!
Ventitré years later, Nintendo reintroduces Kirby’s first official 3D adventure, at least as far as the main series is concerned: Kirby and the Forgotten Land literally threw our hero into a new world through a space-time vortex, a traumatic event which, in Nintendo’s style and with its usual care in designing an action-platformer game without gratuitous violence but with deliberately sugary, childlike gameplay, allowed the player to experience a peculiar quest in the world of Pop in a future with dystopian traits, where old and new enemies would get in the way, and in the skies, of Kirby and his companions.
Come always, even in this Switch2 version with improved graphics, as well as the frame rate as Nintendo points out on its official website, Kirby will show off all his legendary abilities, thanks to the absorption of enemies and the various items and foods scattered throughout New World: by jumping, flying, and shooting projectiles of every kind and element, we will be able to make our way through the brand-new levels of the special content in this edition, perhaps the true flagship feature we were waiting for.

The Astral World, in fact, is an unprecedented adventure exclusive to this version: during an airborne excursion above a star with his new friend Elfilin, Kirby watches helplessly as a meteorite falls and literally explodes in midair, scattering meteor crystals everywhere.
The curious are female, they say, but Kirby is no less so, and in fact the first thing he does is jump down from his special aircraft and land on a beach, ready to uncover the mystery behind these shiny mysterious objects coming from the sky! From the trailers released, you can admire Kirby's new transformations, which will certainly add variety to the way enemies are faced, as well as the numerous minigames available.
Insomma, although it is not an original title, Kirby and the Forgotten Land for Nintendo Switch2 certainly cannot go unnoticed: we described the protagonist as adorable, but it would be reductive to label him as such solely because of his impeccable cuteness: the Kirby saga boasts a well-established and layered lore, its end-of-level bosses are all inspired, and the sweetness, the mood of the game itself should not fool you because the level of challenge can become quite high, even more so if you choose Storm Mode, which we recommend so you can fully enjoy the fun this title can still offer.
