Heroes of Time: Getting to Know Gianmarco Pezzino

by The Games Market RedazioneJuly 17, 2026

Hello! We welcome you to the big family of The Games Market and thank you for agreeing to be interviewed. Every passion is born long ago, usually, in that magnificent and evocative era between childhood and adolescence; it is there that the dreams of gamers are born, destined to grow together with us. Tell us about yourself! Who are you? Or better, who is the person, the collector, the video game enthusiast we have before us?

Hi! I'm Gianmarco and I'm from Rome, I'm 36 years old and I grew up on bread and video games, as I think most 90s kids did.

I started playing with my uncle's Sega Mega Drive by burning the Sonic cartridge and from there it all began… I fell in love with it so much that a few years ago I decided to tattoo it on me!

My very first console ever was the N64, and then as time went by I moved to Sony.

For the past 15 years, however, I have decided to track down all the consoles I couldn't own as a kid, up to collecting more than 30: from Atari to Commodore, to all the Sega and Nintendo consoles, including portable ones as well!

Collecting means maintaining a deep connection with our past and the games we have loved. What are your all-time favorite titles? With your words, allow us to “see” your shelves and the collection, or the collections, that represent you.

The video game that I became most passionate about as I grew up was Mortal Kombat: I was so in love with it that I even did the Scopion cosplay from 2011 to a few years ago in several skins.

I’ve had Mortal Kombat games for every console, and in 2019 I also managed to have two childhood games (Mortal Kombat 1 and 2) for the Sega Mega Drive autographed by Daniel Pesina, the actor who portrayed some characters in the two video games.

By having your title graded, you have made an important choice, and from now on it has become something more than just its value as a collectible. How did you come to know the world of grading? Have you already had similar experiences with other collections of yours, even those not related to video games?

I got to know the world of grading from TCG cards, and then while searching on the Internet I saw that it existed also for video games, and having those two autographed titles that are really important to me I told myself…why not?

Let's grade them!

They must remain with me forever in another form.

What were the main reasons why you wanted to have the title you brought us graded? Beyond the nostalgic aspects related to the game, are there other motivations behind the choice to undergo the TGM grading procedure?

I simply decided to like it because it seemed to me the right way to preserve something that meant something to me and that would give it that extra something to make it more than unique!

Every game has its story, as does its owner, the bond that forms goes far beyond the simple owner-object binomial. When the title has been returned to you, finally graded, what did you feel?

Upon returning from grading, I couldn't wait to show it off among the other video games and among the Mortal Kombat statues!

I wasn't at all interested in the vote, but in the aesthetic factor of seeing them inside the splendid display case.

To conclude, we can only ask you the quintessential question: what aspects of our service did you like the most? Thank you not only for giving us your time, but also for choosing to put your trust in us!

What can I say… an excellent service in every respect!

Immediate assistance, professionalism and precision in every aspect and speed between shipment gradation and return.

A top-notch service!
